How it works
Referrals that actually get answered
Candidates apply to a real employee. The employee reviews in minutes and decides. Everyone gets an answer.
For candidates
- 1
Find someone at the company
Every referrer is a verified employee: they signed up with their work email and we checked their profile.
- 2
Apply to them directly
Send your CV and a short note. You can send 3 applications a week, so referrers only get serious requests.
- 3
Get an answer
The referrer either refers you through their company’s own system, or passes with a reason. If they don’t answer within 14 days, the application closes and doesn’t count against your limit.
For employees
- 1
Set your criteria once
The roles you can refer into and what you look for.
- 2
Review in minutes
Each application arrives next to the criteria you set, so you can check the CV quickly.
- 3
Refer or pass
Referring gives you a ready-to-paste note for your company’s referral portal. Passing sends the candidate your reason.
What a referral is
A referral isn’t a job offer. It puts your CV in front of the company’s recruiters with an employee vouching for you, which usually means it gets a proper look.
Why employees do it
You earn your company’s normal referral bonus. Please check your company’s referral policy before you join.
Who decides
People decide. Not software.
- Doorstep doesn’t use AI on your application today. The referrer reads your CV and note and sees the criteria they set.
- No software decides anything. Nothing scores, ranks or rejects anyone. The referrer makes the decision.
- We may offer optional AI-assisted summaries later, for example as part of Pro. If we do, you will be told clearly before you apply, and a person will still decide.
- Your note matters: it’s where you can show what your CV doesn’t.
